Can “Kando” (emotional impact) be Intentionally Created?
e-plegona | YAMAHA MOTOR & YAMAHA
Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. and Yamaha Corporation are two companies that continue to explore the concept of “Kando” (emotional impact) from both research-based and artistic perspectives. WOW created an interactive installation called “e-plegona” that allows people to experience a portion of these research findings through art. In this installation, two players musically engage with each other through the exchange of rhythms and sounds on a screen. This creates a new form of communication where participants experience emotional connection through nonverbal, intuitive physical interaction in a team setting. This work was showcased at SXSW 2023 and received the Red Dot Design Award in 2024.
