AIR HUB TOKYO
Panasonic │ 2024
At Panasonic's air quality and climate control testing facility “AIR HUB TOKYO,” WOW planned and developed a visual signage system that makes invisible elements like air quality and airflow visible, along with a tablet application to control air-conditioning equipment. In addition to demonstrations at AIR HUB TOKYO, the system was further tested at other Panasonic facilities and Kindai University. The result is a signage solution that not only visualizes indoor environments but also broadens the range of data expression to create an emotionally engaging experience.
Visual Signage
01.

The visual signage displays various spatial elements such as air quality, energy consumption, and invisible airflow. To make the data more intuitive, a range of visual expressions were implemented. Development began with the creation of custom sensor modules to collect real-time air quality data. Visualizing Air Quality and Energy Consumption Both simple indicators and more immersive changes to the room’s visual environment were used to convey environmental conditions. Emotional visual elements were also introduced, such as natural scenes with plant life that change in response to energy consumption levels. Visualizing Airflow Depending on the context and purpose, airflow was illustrated using various methods—ranging from schematic diagram overlays to real-time airflow simulations—enabling flexible and effective communication.

Tablet Application
02.

The tablet application was designed to provide real time status monitoring and centralized management of multiple spaces. In addition to numerical controls for factors like temperature and humidity, the interface includes perceived comfort indexes, enabling users to manage environments based on sensory feedback as well as measurable data.
