Hare to Ke Exhibition

Sendai Mediatheque|2017
From March 18th, 2017 (Sat) to the 22nd (Wed), WOW held an independently designed exhibition titled “Keeping in Touch with the Ordinary / Extraordinary, an Experiential Art Exhibition” at Sendai Mediatheque.

In addition to the archive works that have been exhibited throughout the world, “Factory and Fantasy” and “Light Rain,” they also showcased the folk entertainment-inspired experiential installation “BAKERU.”

It is a brand new expression of the world of Hare and Ke (the sacred-profane dichotomy) from Tohoku, a region which lives and breaths tradition. During the exhibition there was a discussion event with an expert on Tohoku traditional art, a gallery tour of the exhibition, and a paper craft mask-making workshop. Although the exhibition took place over a short period of time, it succeeded in attracting a large number of attendees and truly captivated all those who witnessed it.
