The installation piece “BAKERU” which takes its motif from traditional performing arts in the Tohoku region finished its exhibition “BAKERU: Transforming Spirits” the other day in the United States in Los Angeles. From November, “POPPO Exhibit” and “Tokyo Light Odyssey” will be displayed at Japan House London in England.

On July 19 (Fri.), a 12-screen large cinema complex, the “Grand Cinema Sunshine”, will be opening in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Under the direction of WOW, the chandelier (“Light Sculpture”) located in the entrance lobby of the 4th floor of the complex and the large LED display (“Motion Ceiling”) that covers the ceiling of the 12th floor have been procured.

WOW is pleased to announce the world debut of “BAKERU: Transforming Spirits,” a complimentary exhibition inviting visitors to step into the supernatural world of Japanese folk traditions from the northern region of Tohoku, Japan, through the use of large-scale interactive projections with motion capture technology.

This year, WOW will participate again in “Yoichi Ochiai X Japan Philharmonic Orchestra Project” as a “video performer.” This year, the first night is titled “Diversity 《Sound-Free Concert 2019》” and the second night is titled “Art 《The Crossing Un-Orchestra》,” and it will be double performances lasting two weeks.

HIPANDA OMOTESANDO store features an experiential installation with videos & AR

On April 14th, 2019 (Sun), Chinese apparel brand HIPANDA opened its largest flagship store in Omotesando. Along with CURIOSITY founder Gwenael Nicolas who managed the store coordination and production, WOW managed overall direction of video & AR for the new in-store experiential installation.

The project aims to generate new culture in Shibuya and to bring new life to the Southern Area of Shibuya Station. It is targeted at creative people and is intended as a place that provides them with daily inspiration. WOW was in charge of planning the environment and designing the experiences for a giant monitor which is located at the 100-meter walkway connecting the second floor to Shibuya Station, the giant wall projection set up at the entrance and the large staircase connecting the building to Meiji Street.
A performance that unites digital art with Ainu traditional dance, “Akan Yukar - Lost Kamuy”, has begun.

The Akan Ainu Craft Association and the Japanese Regional DMO, who are working to spread awareness of Ainu traditional culture, formed the NPO, Akan Tourism Association Town Development Promotion Organization in order to develop the tourist area. They are the ones who renewed the program by the Lake Akan Ainu Theater “Ikor”*.
CHANDON Blossom Lounge 2019 Open in Tokyo Midtown

Continuing on from last year, “CHANDON Blossom Lounge” will be held in Tokyo Midtown from March 15th (Fri.) until April 14th (Sun.), 2019. WOW was in charge of the creative direction and image production for the giant Chandon bottle, “Chandon Bouquet,” installed in the center of the grounds.
